One Button RPG
Play as a traveller stuck in a never-ending field full of eccentric monsters! This game is made as a submission for the 2022 One-Button Game Jam.
Dev Notes
- If you're having performance issues in the web player, try downloading the game for your platform.
- For the best experience, I suggest playing this game using a controller that can vibrate. (Vibration seems to only work on native builds.)
Tips
- You can learn other spells by completing specific 'milestones'. (e.g. slaying 5 monsters, fleeing 3 times, etc.)
- You can jump twice in the platformer mini-game.
- A mini-game is not complete until its window closes.
- You recover less MP from fleeing, however, it still marks the fight as 'complete' allowing you to progress faster.
- You can also recover MP by 'withdrawing'.
- Gameover fully restores your HP and MP.
- When prompted, click mysterious buttons to trigger a surprise.
- There are 15 'fixed' levels in total.
- Encounters after the final fight are randomised.

The combat is fun, but the movement is tedious
Really cool concept!
I thought this was a great little game, I like the idea of it being endless. It would be cool if there were other choices you can make rather than just which direction to go or what action to choose when in combat. I'm not sure if there were other events, but that's really all that happened in my play-through. I also would like to mention that the jumping mini-game when in combat is very finicky. It's pretty hard to jump over the rocks in time and you're pretty much guaranteed to get hit at least once. I think the issue with that mechanic is the spacing in graphics to be able to dodge the obstacles.
Thank you for playing! Have you tried using a native build? The web player can be a bit buggy on some device/browser combos. As for the world feeling a bit empty... I was originally planning on adding a bit more to it. Like finding items and rabbithole events. But, I was running a bit short on time.
(Edit: The jumping mini-game bug is fixed in the v.1.0.1 web build.)
I have not tried that, but I will now that you mentioned it! It's definitely a great time passer for when I'm sitting around at work.
Nice! :D
Nice idea, tapping as a switch alternative
Pretty fun game, I enjoyed the combat and the way it was executed overall. Like a lot of the one-button game jam games, I think the one button aspect held this game back a bit, but not much. Nicely done! Look forward to seeing what's next from you.
Yo, how to get a cool page like yours? Great game
Thanks! I just set the page colours to match my game's. This page has a lot of useful information, if you're interested: https://itch.io/docs/creators/design
Thanks, the game is very good! Love the innovation :)
