Game Jam Misc
Is AI used in this project whatsoever?
Absolutely not.
Misc Dev Info
- Programming -
I wanted to use this project to test out how my Dialogue Script module feels to use in an actual game.
I ended up not using much of DS's feature set other than branching mostly because of time pressure.
- Art -
All art assets use a 1-bit aesthetic mostly because I've been enjoying the high-contrast look recently. And a literal two-value palette tend to be easier to produce and animate.
Additionally, I wanted to try to do more fun UI stuff since the recent Godot release added offset transforms (you can do really fun things with them now.)
I'm pretty sure the UI controller ended up being the second largest script in the project towards the end of development.
- Themes -
It's a creature collector in the sense that you can recruit various reflections as partners to improve your ability to collect/defeat other reflections.
The theme of "debt" was used in the sense that you're indebted to someone (yourself) for helping to improve your state of being. (indebted as in grateful)
There is only one instance of the wildcard -- which is a menu existing in the world -- in the game since in-world menus tend to be quite unintuitive when used in excess. (It can be found in a mini-game for one of the reflections in floor 2.)
Credits
(All assets have been made on my own using Pixelorama, LMMS, and Audacity.)
